Challenges to Intimacy
Challenges to Intimacy
Every marriage experiences its share of ups and downs. Certain barriers can lead to a lack of intimacy.
Here are two common problems that couples face:
Stress
The stress of work, childcare, finances, and other commitments, such as caregiving for a vulnerable family member, can erode a couple’s intimacy. Many married couples find their once strong sense of intimacy gradually fading as they become overwhelmed by day-to-day stress.
Chronic Conflict
Constant arguments and struggles to feel heard can make it difficult to feel connected to your spouse. Ongoing conflicts may lead to persistent negative feelings and even a lack of trust, becoming obstacles to feeling close to your spouse and leading to a desire to avoid spending time together.
