Mandatory Co-Parenting Programme (CPP)
If you and your spouse cannot agree on the grounds for divorce and/or ancillary matters, you are required to attend the CPP before you can file for divorce.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Do I have to pay to attend the CPP?
No. The CPP e-learning is accessible for free on the Family Assist portal and the CPP Consultation is offered for free at all Strengthening Families Programme@Family Service Centre (FAM@FSC) or Divorce Support Specialist Agency (DSSA).
2. Do I have to inform my spouse about my decision to participate in the CPP?
The CPP consists of the CPP e-learning and consultation (either alone or with your spouse) with a counsellor from the FAM@FSC or DSSA. The e-learning is to be completed individually by each party.
If you wish to attend the individual consultation, you may choose to keep this decision private. If you prefer to attend the couple consultation, please discuss this with your spouse and come to a mutual agreement on the session date and time prior to booking an appointment. Please also ensure that you and your spouse have completed the CPP e-learning prior to attending the couple consultation.
3. I am unable to complete the CPP e-learning. What should I do?
If you are unable to complete the CPP e-learning due to visual impairment and/or technological difficulties, you may approach a FAM@FSC or DSSA for assistance. The agency will arrange for you to attend the couple or individual consultation, depending on your preference.
4. Why do I need to login with my Singpass again before booking an appointment?
As a security measure, all clients are required to log in again with their Singpass to proceed with booking an appointment for consultation after completing the CPP e-learning.
5. Can my friends or lawyer attend the couple or individual consultation on my behalf?
No, you must personally attend the couple or individual consultation.
If you are residing overseas, please contact any FAM@FSC or DSSA for assistance. The agency will make special arrangements for you to attend the couple or individual consultation virtually.
6. I would like to attend a consultation as soon as possible to file a counterclaim. Who should I approach for assistance?
Upon completion of the CPP e-learning, you will be directed to book an appointment for a consultation via an online booking platform. You should select from available time slots where possible. If you require an earlier time slot which is not available, please contact any FAM@FSC or DSSA.
7. Can I choose my agency?
Upon completion of the CPP e-learning, you will be prompted to log in using your Singpass again to book an appointment for the couple or individual consultation via an online booking platform on Family Assist Portal.
This platform will recommend a FAM@FSC or DSSA whom you can book the consultation with. This recommended agency is the nearest agency that provides this service within your residential area and/or an agency you were previously known to or an agency who is currently serving you. However, you may choose another preferred agency.
8. Will the appointed counsellor inform my spouse about the couple consultation appointment?
No, if you have booked a couple consultation, we will take it that you and your spouse have voluntarily agreed to participate in said consultation at the selected date and time. You are also responsible for your and your spouse's attendance for the scheduled appointment.
9. If I have booked an CPP group session before the launch of the enhanced CPP, can I still attend the CPP couple or individual consultation?
Yes, please inform the agency whom you have booked an CPP group session with that you would like to cancel the existing appointment. You would have to complete the CPP e-learning before proceeding with booking a couple or individual consultation.
10. I have completed the CPP group session. Can I still access the CPP e-learning and attend the CPP couple or individual consultation?
Yes, you may access the CPP e-learning and book an appointment for CPP consultation thereafter.
